I am very pleased to say that I, all of Blue Arrows and everyone that I spoke to enjoyed the shoot. The weather was chilly but bright and for once DRY !
I would like to thank everyone that turned up for their words of support and the good will toward the many small errors that I was responsible for - maybe I took a bit much on. The 40 person restriction I believe would be considered by most people as about right on our tight course and I am glad to say that it is still usable for ourselves. The timing estimates were a little out. We started at approx 10.30 and Eddie Ryan, Paul Power and myself were first back at 2.15 with everyone else shortly after. I think that looking for lost arrows may have taken a little more time than I thought but, if you don’t try these things, you will never know.
All told the last car left at 4 p.m. so if someone had a long way to go they would have benefitted.
I would Like to thank all that supported the shoot. For a small club like ours it is a real boost to our funds. I would also like to thank all in Blue Arrows who volunteered to keep the shoot on, and all from Dunbrody that helped clear up afterwards.
Any credit should go to our small group of stewards and any errors as I have said are down to me.

Good weather, good company, good course, good score. I got what I wanted! The pendants given to the cubs and juniors? Brilliant! My son Colm is chuffed to nuts. Nice one. Thanks Andy and crew

Lovely shoot on Sunday, thank you Andy, Ken, George, Elaine, Richie and all the Blue Arrow gang who worked on the new course and helped to make the day a very enjoyable one.

A beautiful day and a well thought out course.
The shoot started on time and finished nice and early...
Blue Arrows did a great job in putting together a wonderful shoot and positioning shots to deceive. And deceive they managed to do.. Namely the long shot at the lying down stag.... You would just look at it and think.... how far away is it actually?
And then to deceive further, the very next shot was a tree stump.... sorry a tiny owl. Not to mention the hovering wild boar on the other side of the course. Andy, Elaine and gang did a great job on the day too and the shoot was a credit to them and their efficiency, (especially in the light of last weeks debate.)
(Perhaps one criticism might be the issue of continuing through with out lunch where tired and hungry kids shooting might become compromised.) However that wasn't to take away from a thoroughly enjoyable day all round. So well done to all concerned.
So some memorable bits... One young persons early morning opinion on how to make a flatbow.... place it in front of an oncoming car!!! Then there was the suggestion of placing bubble wrap on the trees, the rumour of a falling Dunbrody archer who we won't name here (pity), arrows hitting everything but the 3d's, Join the dots using arrows around the targets. Then there was a boot full of lovely raffle prizes, wonderful medallions for all the kids, beautifully carved signs in the woods, and a pleasant atmosphere throughout...
So very well done to Andy, Elaine and all the gang...great fun.
