IAC 3D SBG - June 20th 2010

Congratulations to Eric and his small team for the arrangement of a terrific shoot. Beautiful venue, well laid-out course. Being Eric, a few tricky ones - but nothing like the last one! I appreciated the absence of the little owl. The whole day was testing and very enjoyable. Thank you.

Behold the future of Irish archery courses! Inspired by Austria, built by Eric and the rest of the IAC! Every target was 'hittable'. There wasn't a branch to be seen that'd obstruct the flight of an arrow. Quite simply, all anyone had to do was address the target, shoot and hit the thing (note to self; the latter point still needs work)... the sun, for some, on the day was another matter but I'm not going there, now. :-) Seriously, a lot of thought went into the courses' lay-out. Attention to detail was the key in terms of the targets and the double-pegging of each, which made the second round feel as fresh and interesting as the first. As Mr Kelly said himself, there were no "sneaky" shots... and rightly so! The challenges set-down and faced by each of us on the day were mental; we had to evaluate the target itself.
Rahin forest was a pleasure to shoot in; few courses can compare to its beauty in the height of summer. Roll on the 18th July; I for one can't wait for the second instalment of what the IAC has to offer! See you all there in a months' time.

After the success of Ireland's "Next Taoiseach", a small group ventured out of Mayo for the IAC shoot. The weather was superb and the temperature control spot on in the wood. The course was well thought out and a pleasure to shoot even if scores were hard got with animals sometimes in darkness, sometimes dappled shade and other times in a spotlight.
Congratulations to Eric and team, you deserve every praise for the work you did on our behalf.
The Mayo Mafia

Once again hats off to Eric and all at the I A C another great day out. As always a warm welcome, flags a nice touch as well as the road signs, well organised, well run.
Great course, very easy to follow, superb locations of the 3D's, nice natural settings, fantastic use of the "sun" on some of the shoots and the "shade" for others.
Very serious demo on how to use a Porto potty. Very good creche facility. Looking forward to the next shoot.
Pat, Dylan & Max, Willow Hill Archers.

Thank you very much for a lovely shoot yesterday. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The light posed challenges for the twiddlers, but they were all in the same boat so it was all fair. Rahin Woods is particularly nice and you use it to it's full potential. We're looking forward to the shoot on 18 July.

Eric and IAC did it again. A brilliant shoot on a newly laid out course as promised.
Gorgeous weather, and in great company, some fine skills with arrows, many excellent scores, not to mention all the excuses in the world (from the twiddle brigade with their high performance space age sights) regarding the "bright" sunlight, the "fierce" glare, and "dark" areas etc etc!
The day was sunny throughout and the woods hot but it was only when we emerged for lunch that we felt the true extent of the days heat. It was great to see everyone sitting out chatting and enjoying the sunshine. Eric had designed a great course. It was easier than last time "apparantly!", wish I could have felt it was... So some memories that stood out... People travelling to the shoot and forgetting their bow!, the friendly atmosphere, that long slender fox that I would have kept missing had I spent the day shooting at it, A suicidal flying bird who liked flying in front of 3d targets, even the brief appearance of a live 3d rat, woods full of busy little flying creatures, the lovely medals, and fine raffle, A great day, very well done Eric and co. Looking forward to returning in July...

1 DOWN AND 1 TO GO!!!!
Just to let you all know the course is now dismantled and packed away waiting for our next installment, what can we dream up for the next one? you ask.
Never fear the next shoot is already in the planning stages. JUST A HINT! it will be in a different part of the forest never shot before!!!
Taking the shoot down always give me a strange feeling as you watch it disappear and melt into the forest never to be shot again and only remembered by those who bravely battled, chatted, giggled, and joked there way around the course. This will be remembered as the most relaxing and enjoyable shoot I have ever had the pleasure to be involved in and boy! it was a pleasure to see so many happy faces.
Some of you were so relaxed that you went for a walk and got lost!!!!
Some great scores were handed in congrats to you all, not an easy course to shoot straight off the bat.
My apologies to Ben Crowe for missing him out at the presentation but I did give him a medal afterwards.Great score!!!!! 544 well done.(note to self!!!,,, must learn how to read properly)
Well all said and done a great day out in splendid sunshine, to be remembered for all the right reasons.
Thank you all for your support, we will endeavor to upgrade our shoots as time goes by so that you will all benefit from the best setup possible,(Getting better but not quite there yet)
A BIG thank you to all those who helped take in most of the gear at the end much appreciated.
Thanks also to Don for coming down early Saturday to check the course.(couldn't have done it without you sir)
