2010 IFAF Championship

Hosted by Black Dog Archers

Firstly well done to all the gang at Black dog for hosting the 2010 Champs. It is not an easy event to put together and the two day champs took place without any problems and was a credit to the course organisers and marshalls. Good humour flowed over both days despite the challenging targets. Weather was good. The 3d course proved the more popular of the two courses. The woods in general were interesting and colourful with the animal targets brilliantly placed. Target distances challenged many archers but some did exceptionally well, and as usual the younger competitors amongst us,- awed us with their great ability. Almost thirty competitors from Dunbrody travelled and many of them came away with titles and trophies. Well done to Donegal archer Donál O' Donovan on retaining the Dunbrody sponsored "Willie Doyle Bowhunter Recurve" perpetual trophy. Well done also to John Orr from Black dog on winning our 2nd club sponsored perpetual trophy "The Silver Arrow" . Congrats to all the winners and medallists, not just from our club.
The medals were lovely and the hand crafted winner plaques were absolutely fabulous and definately something to treasure. (I can only dream!!!) So for most people, it was a wonderful weekend of shooting, for some it was a learning experience, and for a few it was.... well one competiton to place in the "not quite on form" memory section at the back of the brain.
Go Black dog, well done again all...
Andrew Wayland Dunbrody p.r.o.

I would like to thank all the 70+ archers for competing in the 2010 championships down here at Black Dog. We hope ye all enjoyed it as much as we did holding it.
The weaher was good as was the banter. I would also like to thank all the "Black Dogs" for all the work they put into building two new courses for the champs.
Once again many thanks to all you fellow archers.
Pat Morrissey, Chair

What a great weekend at the Champs. We were blessed with good weather, a good course and of course good company. Hats off to all at Black Dog for their efforts, although the raffle for the bow stand was a bit suspect ( ha ha )
The main prizes of Yew trophies were a great idea and congratulations to all that won one.
Looking forward to the next shoots
Andy and Ken, Blue Arrows

I have to congratulate the Black Dog club for the weather, atmosphere, course and the competition. It was a great weekend even if some of the shots were mind numbing for those of us with sight difficulties.
The 2d course on sunday was a f"£$%ng donkey of a course, designed by somone that has serious issiues. But well done to them for making it difficult for everyone.
A special thank you to Helen O'Connell and husband John for their hospitality and the use of the back garden. Also thanks to Willie for the fried chicken in Damson sauce.
